     You cannot route a private IP address on the Internet. You must enable NAT in order to access the Internet from the 10.x.x.x network.

   After installation of squid proxy unable to connect my remote server?
   Can someone please help in setting up VNC Viewer properly so that it
   works well with Squid Proxy. I am using Squid3.1 on Ubuntu and
   VNC viewer on windows7,Core Ftp, and Putty unable to connect remote server
   for user it is giving an error "Unable to connect to host: permission
   refused". Please let me know how to enable this in Squid Proxy,

     You have to bypass the primary and secondary proxy protocol numbers and insert the ip address of your home router.

3. QUESTION:
   Error Message: Unable to Connect to Proxy Server?
   On my windows vista laptop, only a few years old, I am getting this error message whenever I try to open or connect to the internet. This occurs when I open any browser (chrome, explorer, safari, or firefox) as well as the itunes store, and will not let me access the internet.

   One exception to this, is that I can send/receive Email just fine, despite the message. I am not sure why it is doing this; I have not consciously changed any settings. I have tried restarting, rebooting, and turning wireless off/on all multiple times, but still I get the same error. I want to be able to access the web, so does anyone have an Idea of what this problem could be or how I could solve it?

     Recently this happened to my son. His proxy setting got set. He never touched them and we found No virus or malware.

     To fix it:

     Firefox
     Go to;
     Tools
     Options
     Advance
     Network
     Settings
     click no proxy

     Internet Explorer:
     Go to;
     Tools
     Internet options
     Connections
     Lan settings
     Remove proxy checkmark

     Now everything will work. Still don't know what happened but its been over a week and he has had no problems.

4. QUESTION:
   My internet keeps forcing me onto a Proxy Server so I am unable to connect?
   Every time I open up my browser I have to go into my LAN settings and untick the box for 'Use a proxy server.' Only then am I able to open up a website. When I then close my browser and then open it again I have to go through the same process, so even though I keep unticking the box the computer doesn't remember. How can I make it so I can get straight onto the internet without having to change settings each time?
   In response to intial responses, the router and internet work fine, its just that I have to untick proxy server every time before a page will load. If I restart router, or change homepage etc, I still have to turn off the proxy server before a page will load

They can even read your email, check for proxy links, and block them before you have a chance to use them. The most advanced systems can block you within seconds.

     The name of the proxy, how new or “fresh” it is, whether it’s https or not does not matter. The proxy will be detected and blocked because it’s a proxy. All proxies are the same and all can be easily detected and blocked. There is no one proxy that is better than any other.

     There is a huge risk in using free proxies from unknown sources. Many of these free proxies and VPN's are what are called hacker pots. They are there waiting for you to fall into their trap so they can steal your personal information, login credentials and plant bots on your computer.

     Open Internet Explorer browser.

     Click on "Tools" tab in the top menu bar.

     Click on "Internet Options." This will bring up the "Internet Options" window.

     Click on "Connections" tab.

     Click on "LAN Settings" button in the bottom portion of the window. This will bring up the "LAN Settings" window.

     Click on "Advanced" under the "Proxy Server" section to be able to see the proxy server settings of your local area network.

   I connect to Yahoo messenger through a proxy server and am unable to make free pc to pc calls and also not able to go to any chat rooms. the call button is not highlighted and when I try to get into chat line I get a message "signing in to Yahoo chat took longer than expected".      Do you have firewall software installed? Try switching it off or disabling it. It may be blocking the internet making a "2-way" connection. ie Aim.

    Can't connect to Yahoo!Games server. Need help please!?
    Ok, so here's the deal, i can get the applet for the game "Literati" to load and stuff, but then i get an error message every time that says:

    "Unable to connect to our server.
    One of four things could have caused this:
    1) You are behind a firewall.
    2) You are not connected to the internet.
    3) The games server is down.
    4) You have a stale page in your cache."

    NOW, i know for a fact it's not 2 or 3 because i'm obviously connected to the internet and i got a friend to check on her computer to make sure that the games server is not down. I also don't think it's #4 because i already cleared my temporary internet files (what i assumed to be the "cache" it was talking about). SO the only option left was #1. I know it's not my personal firewall that's causing the problem, so i'm assuming there's some sort of firewall on the internet at my apartment complex. I really need to know how to get around such a firewall, or another way that i can resolve this problem! (I tried a proxy server, but to no avail)

      Yes your apartments router will have a firewall and the only way around this problem is to have the apartments IT guy to open the required port(s) on the router.

    I just bought a Wii wired LAN Adapter and a ethernet cable.....i already have a RCA digital Broadband Cable router, but when i try to connect it either says that its unable to connect to the internet or unable to connect to proxy server...

      If your router is hooked up properly to the modem ou should be sitting pretty. Go through the power cycle steps on all components, then try again, it may have been an authentication issue, sometimes the Wii has those when going wired. Conflicts if you will with routers. It may be worth trying to run your modem to the computer directly with USB. then run the ethernet to the PC.

    Antivir Solution Pro virus - Unable to connect to Internet for removal software?
    My laptop was recently infected by the "Antivir Solution Pro" virus, which blocked me from accessing any internet pages as well as forbidding me from opening programs, so I quickly found a tutorial informing me on how to remove it on the main computer, so, i got back on to the laptop and followed the tutorial, but after the whole "F8 -- Safe mode with Networking -- Tools -- Internet Options -- LAN settings -- Uncheck Proxy server box -- OK" I was unable to download the removal software from the tutorial website as whilst in "Safe Mode with Networking" I am completely unable to connect to the Internet, no matter which wireless network I successfully connected to, it would always only access "Local Only" connection, but in the virus-torn "Normal Mode" I can connect easily to the Internet, any suggestions or responses would be appreciated

    Also, if it makes any differance whatsoever, I use Windows Vista.

      You might have rootkit or there is a problem with DNS server. Try repairing connection, and set DNS servers manually to google ones ( 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4). If it fails, download removal software to usb disk and run from there.

    so basically, my windows vista computer got attacked by a virus known as Vista Antivirus 2012, which was a fake virus scan which tried to get me to buy the full version. I seemed to have blocked it with Malwarebytes, but now, none of my browsers are working, and it has nothing to do with my internet connection. for instance, firefox says "The proxy server is refusing connections", google chrome says "unable to connect to the proxy server" and internet explorer doesn't work either.       i've delt with a virus very similar to this one. your problem is that you didn't actually block the virus from running as a process in your computer. you need to open task manager and click on processes. it will either be a process called svchost and be run by your user name. if not, go through all your processes and make sure you know what all of them are and check out the suspicious looking ones. when you find it. just click end processes

    Hi! I have a Sony VAIO that I have been more than happy with for over a year now. Though recently a malware virus got into my computer. I restarted my computer through Safe mode with networking, downloaded an anti-malware program and was able to get rid of it. While downloading the program in Safe mode I had to use LAN/proxy to connect to the internet. Ever since then I have had ALOT of trouble being on the internet for more than 2 minutes at a time. At the bottom right hand side of the screen (where it shows signal strength) I get a gray square, which I suppose is represents a connection, with a red 'X' through it. I run diagnostics, and at the end of it it tells me that the problem has been fixed, but it hasn't, sending me through an endless circle of frustrating attempts to solve the problem. I have gone to toolbar>options>under the hood>proxy settings>controls>LAN settings and unchecked everything in case it was still trying to connect me through LAN, but it hasn't helped the problem. I use google chrome and when I attempt to look at a website it says "Error 105 (net:: ERR_NAME_NOT_RESOLVED): unable to resolve the server's DNS address" I'm a 19 year old girl and not exactly computer savy, but I was wondering if this is a problem that anyone else has had or is a problem that can be easily fixed?       Your internet probably doesn't have enough MB to support the Wi-Fi connection to both your Xbox and your Wii. Try using only one at a time.

      Have you done anything to violate nexon's TOS? If you can't connect to the proxy (which I assume you are using to connect to your private server, not referring to the actual game server itself) then find a different socket to connect on. I would say no, because you weren't actually attacking any of their servers.

    Why am I unable to access my web server remotely?
    I am in process of deploying a web server based on WordPress on a local machine running Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron). So far, I've installed a web daemon, lighttpd. Before proceeding on to installing WordPress, however, I want to insure my daemon is "part of the cloud" ; that is, IP's other than mine are able to access it. This will be a personal web server, so it will run on my residential broadband connection from AT&T; I hope this is not a problem. I will also use Dyn-DNS to access the server remotely before buying a domain and forwarding it to the DynDNS address.

    I can confirm lighttpd has been successfully installed because I'm able to load the placeholder page when I enter my server's local address. I can even load the placeholder when I point my browser to the DynDNS address. However, I have been unable to access it through a proxy (to see if everyone else can load it), nor have my friends been able to load it when I ask them.

    My network layout is a broadband modem connected to a Linksys WRT54G set to "Gateway Mode," forwarding requests to port 80 to my server's local address. My server is connected to the router through an Ethernet cable and has currently its firewall disabled (to troubleshoot this, of course).

    If it matters, I've tried to set up SSH tunnels and VNC sessions in similar fashions (port forward, DynDNS, access remotely) without any success.

    I would greatly appreciate any help, tips, or clues, or corrections in my procedure. Thanks in advance everyone!
    Thanks for replying Xander. I already have the router forwarding port 80 to my server's local IP address. I didn't have 443 so I added that one as well. I retried accessing it with a proxy but still no luck.

    There's one thing that bothers me: I have my Linksys configured to automatically present an address to DynDNS. The one it is giving, though, is its IP address from the modem's perspective. Is that okay? Shouldn't it be presenting the modem's IP?

    • ANSWER:
      You need to forward ports 80, and 443 to the internal IP address of the server. The problem is people are connecting to your DynDNS account which connects them to your router, your router then has this HTTP request but doesn't know what to do with it, so it drops it on the floor.

      That is correct, it should be pointing to your Cable Modem. Chances are you don't have the cable modem in passive mode, which means it is still handling routes.

    I have checked my firewall settings, but everything is marked as it should be (I even turned off my firewall and it still doesn't work) I uninstall ed the browsers and installed them again and still nothing.

    I think it might be my proxy settings, because I downloaded the Google Updater to verify if I had any malware or any other soft wares that might be blocking the internet use of my browers, but it doesn't even start verifying because it says that the internet isn't connected well that there is a problem with my proxy settings. That's why I think it might be my proxy settings but I don't know where to go in order to fix that.
    If anyone knows why this happened, if it happened to you and you were able to fix it, if you know what to do in order to fix it may you PLEASE let me know?

    That is what I get right when I open up to Mozilla. I tried clicking "Try Again" aswell as going on to other websites, but to no avail. I made sure "Work Offline" was not checked, and it is not.

    Cannot Connect to Server, The Site is up, Why Can I not Connect?
    So, I've been trying to visit Facepunch.com. I've done this for years, and now, today I "Cannot connect to Server." Originally I figured something was wrong but apparently after speaking with people using it and checking through the website 'down for everyone or just me?' that it is infact up and running.

    So why can I not connect to this website? All my other websites work correctly, so why not this one? On two rare occasions today I was able to get onto it and post a few times but then it started again.

      Delete any cookies you have for that website, and it should work. This has happened to me with google mail for some reason.

      Any of these can cause it, try following :

      1. Open Yahoo! Messenger.
      2. Click on "messenger" menu from the menu bar.
      3. Click "Connection Preferences".
      4. Change the setting from "Connect directly to the internet" to the "Connect via a proxy server" and then "HTTP Proxy".
      5. Use all you email id not user name for example (use "xyzz@yahoo.com" not "xyzz")
      6. If using "Connect via a proxy server" then also check if your Internet Explorer is not in "Work Offline" mode.

    i went on windows live messenger and tried to sign in. when i did i got an error message saying something about a "proxy" being offline and my internet explorer being unable to connect. sure enough when i started up internet explorer (i normally use firefox which works fine) it says i cannot connect to the webpage for any webpage at all.

    so, i tried downloading the new internet explorer 8, i tried following instructions found on the net that told me to enable "use a proxy server for your LAN" in the internet options thing, i made sure internet explorer is not set to "work offline". none of these things have solved my problem.

    How can I connect to game server from different IP?
    So the game I have is Jedi Academy II.
    (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Jedi_Knight:_Jedi_Academy)
    As you can see, the game isn't a browser based game, it is a game installed from CD, so I won't be able to just go to some online proxy to get through.

    I was wondering how I can connect to the game's varies multiplayer servers through a different IP?

    I am unable to reset a router to change my IP, because I am running off of the router the collage provides for us.

      You need a proxy, but a Proxy Program. It runs on your desktop and redirects all internet traffic through a proxy. Doesn't matter if it's Browser, Games, Skype..... Whatever. If you Google "Proxy Program" it will come up with many results.

      Only problem is though that usually Proxy's are slow, especially free proxies. You need speed for gaming.

Problem started after virus attack by “antivirus soft” and subsequent removal using anti spyware and anti malware programs. Did the anti spyware/anti malware accidentally remove a vital component? Or did the “antivirus soft” virus cause damage to “internet explorer” during infection? “Firefox” works, “msn messenger” connects to internet etc only “internet explorer” is unable to connect. What do I do???

      Is there any specific reason you want to use Internet Explorer??
      ( for example, you need to access a website that can only works well with Internet Explorer )
      Try to use Internet Option on your Control Panel to change its settings.

      If you don't have a specific need to use Internet Explorer, then do yourself a favor : DONT USE INTERNET EXPLORER. it's a well-known crappy browser in the history.
      Keep using Firefox instead.
